Taster Sessions for Beginners

We are offering free coaching sessions with Peter Ritchie for beginners (including juniors without handicaps), these sessions will be held at Alnwick Golf Club on Saturday afternoons on the 5th & 12th of April between 1 - 5 pm.

If you are interested in attending one of these sessions, please telephone Eddie Dent on 01670 783097 to book your place. 

When calling please note that you need to provide the following information:

1. Full name

2. Address including postcode

3. Contact telephone number

4. Date of Birth

5. Whether you have your own golf clubs (if not, whether you are right or left-handed.

6. If you are a junior - your approximate height

These sessions are open to non-members of Alnwick Golf Club, so if you have a friend or relative who might be interested, get them to phone Eddie straight away to avoid disappointment because there is a limited number of places.

The course is located within minutes of the main A1 above Alnwick Town Centre, we are 30 miles south of Berwick-upon-Tweed and 32 miles north of Newcastle upon Tyne

Originally created in 1907 as a 9 hole course, we extended to an 18 hole course in 1995.  Built on mature parkland the course offers spectacular views of the Capability Brown designed local countryside, extending to the sea 6 miles away

The layout is superb with the 18 holes stretching over 6,250 yards and not too clustered together so that each holes feels less like an extension of the others, and more like an individual challenge in its own right.  There are many natural hazards that can play havoc with any stray shots, including open grassland and gorse - home for many lost golf balls.  The course provides a far test of golf with a mix of par threes, fours and fives.

Our signature hole is the 12th known as the 'Lang Whang' - it is an uphill dog leg (left) par 5 culminating in a raised green - a par here or better and you'll be delighted.

Whilst playing be ever watchful for the wildlife, as the course is home to a variety of animals, including deer, pheasants, etc.

Over the years the club has produced many fine golfers, the most notably being Peter Deeble, a British Amateur Champion and Walker Cup Player, Peter was also 5 times Northumberland Strokeplay Champion, a record only better last year by Sandy Twynholm (Morpeth) who won his 6 Strokeplay Championship at Alnwick with a 72 holes score of 287 (a report on last years competition can be viewed at www.nugc.org.uk)

Our course is a true challenge to golfers of all abilties.
